Chronicle
Francine LeClercq
Born in France, artist Francine LeClercq lives and work in New York.
Her portfolio includes works in painting, art installations, architecture and design. Individual and collaborative works have been widely publicised and exhibited in galleries, museums and other notable institutions in United States, Europe and Asia.
Her work has found its ground in the process of painting and in the “idea” of painting, from investigations with the very material constructs essential to the becoming of the work (the stretcher, the canvas, the paint) to dialogues between materiality, content, exhibition space and
encounter with the viewer.
Presented here are recent works that are active in the process of their own creation.
Through a fixed pattern of actions directed by the size of the brush and a chosen angle of gravity, paint drips in slow and successive layering forming its own weave.
